Earn Free Books for Bell View!

Dear Students and Parents,

Starting on February 14 and continuing through March 14, 2012, public elementary schools across the United States will be eligible to participate in an exciting reading challenge on We Give Books! We're doing just what our name suggests: giving away books - 150,000 of them, to be exact - to schools nationwide.
Earning free books for your school is fun and easy!
1. Just visit our site, www.wegivebooks.org. Starting on February 14 you'll be able to sign up to read on behalf of the Read for My School campaign. You’ll want to practice reading on We Give Books beforehand to make sure that you’re ready to read and earn for your school when the campaign begins.
2. Enter your school name on the registration form so that we can track the number of books that your school earns. If you're already a member of We Give Books, please visit your member profile and enter your school name (Login > Settings > Country > School Name) before reading for the Read for My School campaign.
3. Choose a great children's book and read! Click "Give a Book" at the end of the story to be counted toward your school’s reading total.
4. Spread the word: Encourage friends and family members to participate and earn even more books for your school!

Repeated Addition

This week we started working on multiplication. Students learned repeated addition yesterday and today, we worked on an array model.
A Multiplication Array is simply a number of symbols ordered in neat rows and columns. When offering your children these arrays, simply speak to them about what is going on in theme. Also ask them to think of the multiplication symbol having the meaning of "rows of". This way, when your child thinks of 3 x 5, they will think of 3 rows of 5.
This method does go hand in hand with the 'grouping' method of teaching multiplication. These two methods are similar, yet different.

Welcome !

I am so excited to this school year! We have a great group of kids.
Back to School Night
(Poem)

As sugar and flour come together to make a wonderful cookie
creation that you bake,
Parents and teachers join as one to create an educated
daughter or son.
It takes lots of love, caring and understanding,
But an individual will emerge who is special, not withstanding.
We will work together to help each child bloom so they can
grow and prosper as they learn in this room.
So I share this little confection with you, as I say I am
committed to helping your child grow each and every day.
Yes, the road is long, but the journey has begun, as we strive
to educate your daughter or
 your son.
